Family Justice Center

One. Safe. Place.

Seeking to further help crime victims, Crisis Line & Safe House of Central Georgia applied for and received a grant in 2020 to establish a Family Justice Center (FJC) in Macon. Since 2020, CL&SH and our community partners have been working to bring the FJC, named One Safe Place Macon, to fruition. In May 2024, we purchased the building at 1120 Second Street, originally the Virgil Powers School, to be the future home of One Safe Place Macon.

Support in one central location

The FJC will be a central location where victims who have experienced abuse can access life-saving services from a variety of non-profit organizations and criminal justice agencies who will each house a representative in the Center.

Based on a successful national model, the Center will alleviate many of the obstacles that hinder victims from receiving services, such as being required to travel to multiple locations or to repeat their story over and over again.

The family justice center model has been named the best practice in the field of domestic violence intervention and prevention by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women. Outcomes include reduced homicides, increased victim safety, reduced fear and anxiety for victims and children and more.
